VCU Robotics is developing an automated packaging solution for salmon fillets for Urk Export.
The salmon fillets are fed in via a conveyor belt. Two Delta robots pick up the fillets and place them precisely into boxes, crates, or other packaging. The system is compatible with various packaging sizes, including 800 × 400 mm and 600 × 400 mm.
Using vision technology and conveyor tracking, the fillets are identified and processed in the correct position. This allows the robots to operate with high precision and enables a capacity of up to fifty picks per minute, depending on the product flow.
This solution further automates the packaging of salmon fillets. It reduces manual handling, increases process consistency, and contributes to a hygienic and efficient packaging process.
